oddity - babysitting with C, baby was so cute, and C was a natural. maybe i wasn't? but it was ok
outing - shopping for pregnancy clothes with B
day - today! slow dancing in the kitchen, restful sabbath reading cooking sipping coffee. and tonight will be ethiopian food with friends and a trip to penzey's spice store.

recipe}

potato & leek soup - i made this with beef stock instead of chicken & it turned out marvelous! i added just a dash of lemon juice and some red pepper flakes & left off the cream. the only thing other addition i would suggest would be to cube the potatoes very small, as my cubes were on the large side and were too hot to eat right away. which you will want to. it is rich, soothing, & flavorful. definitely a cozy soup that we are going to re-visit many times winter. also, this is not my photo.

restaurant}

BrewRiver Gastropub - we split a burger called The Natchez, truffle fries, and truffled mac&cheese. C and i have decided that any food with the word 'truffled' in it is miraculous. not to mention that the burger had crispy fried onions on it and the bun was toasted in bacon grease (no this is not a healthy restaurant!). this photo was actually taken after C smushed the burger down to take a bite. i also was feeling adventurous and told the bar tender i just wanted a sweet&fruity drink. he made me some amazing concoction that he just made up and it was glorious! i think he called it the 'tropical superman'.
