| 20 weeks! |
also, we found out we are having a baby BOY!
i was super surprised about it-- i always pictured myself being a momma of girls. there was some moderate to severe crying involved, but i am pregnant so i can blame it on that!
i'm slowly adjusting to the thought of having a little boy. i love my husband so much-- if baby boy is anything like him, i know life with him will be wonderful.
we also bought a crib off of craigslist for Him this past friday. i really like it! the color isn't quite right, but it's close enough, and it has a drawer underneath for storage! score! i'm super excited about the babyroom decorating, and the knowing the gender didn't change our plans one way or the other. we were always going to do the same thing. so! i'm excited for warmer weather to get here so C can start spraypainting some things for me.
oh and! tiny little sidenote that i was proud of- i still haven't gained any weight! ah! i think the scale at the doctor's office might be broken. it's weird to see my body's shape changing so visibly and not seeing the change on the scale. i figured i'd brag about it this time because i'm SURE by next visit i will be putting on more pounds (like i'm supposed to!). i have eaten many many grilled cheeses this week. and sugar is unfortunately back on my radar!

that is amazing! i always gained a ton by the time i was halfway through!
ReplyDeletei haven't had a boy yet, but i think a little boy would be a lot of fun--and i hear that they are a lot easier in the teenage years (my house is going to be absolute madness...)
I'm also amazed at the fact that you haven't gained anything! I had gained almost 20 pounds by the time I was at the halfway mark. :p We seem to produce big boys, haha. I really hope I gain a lot less next time, though...have you eaten any particular way this pregnancy that you think contributed to the lack of weight gain? I think just eating more carefully next time will help me a lot but I thought I'd see if there was anything specific you're doing. Congratulations on hitting the halfway mark, by the way. :) That's always such an exciting milestone!
ReplyDeletep.s. YAY for Baby Boy LeNoir!!!
yes i've been really perplexed by it-- because everything i've read says that i should have gained at least 5lbs by now. i hope everything is okay with my body! let's see, when i first got pregnant i was fine and eating normal foods (pizza sometimes, soups, cooked sushi, etc) but i was drinking a TON of water (3 chickfila cups a day). then the food aversions hit about week 8 and for 5 weeks all i could eat was ramen (?! i KNOW) and plain baked potatoes (it was a very sad time). then christmas came and we all know how christmas is-- though i managed to keep from overeating at all because my food aversions were just beginning to recede. after christmas, i was so disgusted at the food that i Had eaten over christmas (lots of sugar and lots of canned/boxed food) that i craved and wanted salads-- so for two weeks for dinner we mostly had salad with tomatoes and a little cheese and a boiled egg and bacon. it was so good! and also starting then, we've been making smoothies for breakfast every morning, mostly just of whatever we have on hand (oranges, banana, juice, almonds, fzn fruit, greek yogurt). i think it might have been the switch to healthy food that kept me from gaining this past month-- but i'm not doing as well with that anymore since all my food aversions are Gone now and i'm craving sandwiches and sugars. ha! and in the months before that, the food aversions were so bad that i was doing good to get anything down and keep it down, so i ate small amounts. and i have been SO BAD about drinking water (though this week i've done so much better). the water in our fridge (from a filtered pitcher) smells like the freezer does (still unidentified) and so i hate drinking it. but i started putting a lime in it and it works now.
Deletei've also not felt like i've had any crazy I WILL EAT ALL THE THINGS hunger since the first trimester, so i'm only having 3 meals a day with an occasional snack (usually a clementine or two) during the day. i sip on my smoothie all morning, and because of the almonds in it, it keeps me full till lunch! i was never a breakfast eater before, but i've enjoyed the smoothies. i have had Serious fruit cravings the entire pregnancy, so it quells those.
i've just started exercising again occasionally with C-- we do the yoga video i have. but i can only usually make it about 15-20 minutes before i am tired and have to stop. when it isn't -2 outside we will take walks! :) but i wouldn't say that my lack of weight gain is due to exercise at all, since i was largely immobile until january 1!
i'm sure all of your THM stuff will help you when you are pregnant next! it seems like those are such healthy foods! and you've lost so much weight!!!! i'm astounded by it and (let's just be honest) jealous. i really want to do it NOW while i'm inspired, but i'm still on the library's wait list and i'm a little nervous about 'dieting' anyway while i'm pregnant. especially with truvia?? i don't know much about it, so i'll have to look into it more. but yes. i'm inspired by you and the THM group on facebook. it gives me hope that i will be able to lose the babyweight and maybe even get down to what i've wanted to be for the past 4 years. these pesky 20lbs i gained while married just won't come off regardless of clean eating and running two half-marathons. i know it's not That much to lose, but i know i'd feel so much better if i did. how much more weight do you want to lose? it didn't look like you needed to lose Any from the pics on facebook! :) but i know what it's like to know your body and know what is healthy for you.
Oh my!! You are so sweet!! I probably weigh more now, after losing 16 pounds, than you do being 20 weeks pregnant. :) I'm 5 pounds above my pre-pregnancy weight currently but I started out my pregnancy with Linus 10 pounds heavier than I started my pregnancy with Milo and I started my pregnancy with Milo 10 pounds heavier than I did when Tyson and I got married, sooo ideally, I would like to lose 25 more pounds from where I am now. But, at the very least, I need to lose 20 more pounds from where I am now. Thank you for saying it didn't look like I needed to lose any, though! Not sure what pics you mean...they must be old ones!
DeleteI know what you mean about Truvia...I had a lot of concerns about it at first, which is why I make my own homemade Truvia when I can...it's a mix of non-GMO erythritol (which has been around since the 1800s) and non-GMO pure stevia powder, so there's not a lot of filler. I did eat some artificial sweeteners (like Diet Coke) while pregnant with both boys, though, mostly toward the end of pregnancy when I was told I didn't need to gain any more-- but I always felt nervous about it-- I think that's why I'm more comfortable with Truvia/stevia because I feel like at least it's supposedly a natural sweetener (although I remember Splenda being marketed as natural, too, at one point). I agree, though-- you don't need to worry about dieting at all during pregnancy. :) I think, for me, it will be good to follow THM principles during pregnancy because I always gain 40-45 pounds in pregnancy and that's not healthy. Maybe once you get the book, you can read up on it so you can be ready to implement it after you have your sweet baby boy and after you've settled into motherhood for a little while. :) And I plan to be doing this lifestyle for years to come-- so I will still be doing it if and when you are able to join in. :)
