weekly curiosities no.3

best reason to celebrate}
 C's birthday!!! yay!!! so very thankful to have this godly man in my life. he is my best friend. he is caring and supportive and patient and kind. he encourages me to be better without turning to criticism or fear. he is hardworking and chases after dreams. and he's just the best at having fun! i'm so proud to be his wife!

most life-changing}
 the poutine at Senate in downtown. gravy beef fries? ohmyyes.

most lookingforwardto}
 my brother's coming this weekend! for a visit! and there are fun things planned! but it will be the most fun just to have him here.

at the farm}
 there was a fox who has been eating at least one chicken every night. causing egg production to go down and, of course, loss of meat chickens. there have been attempts to run it off but the farmers are unsure of whether or not any of it has worked. i'll keep you posted. also! the mommapig had her piglets!!!! SO CUTE. also also-- tomato season is almost over. part of me wants to shout hallelujah!!!! and the other part of me is sad because i like tomatoes. but picking cherry tomatoes is back-breaking work at best. so my back is happy. also, for those of you who asked, i will be posting some about farm-life soon!

 1. your gagging isn't loving - "Yes, love tells the truth. But when your truth degrades people, it’s not loving. When your truth reduces relationships to sex acts, it’s not loving. When your truth makes people want to hurt themselves, it’s not loving. When your truth makes the gospel something that is only available to people who believe like you, it’s not loving. When your truth pushes people away from Jesus instead of toward him, it’s not loving. And if your truth isn’t loving, is it really truth?"
 2. loneliness & tuna casseroles - "I stand over my oven and I realize that I must, at some point, acknowledge the emptiness. I must feel it. I serve slopping spoonfuls of tuna casserole, I wash the dishes and I feel my emptiness."
 3. there are no trophies here - "delighting in the Lord doesn’t happen because you tried. Delighting happens because you couldn’t try any more. Because you found the task that could not be checked off. Because you discovered you were needy."

  2. I lovelovelove your yellow headwrap (headscarf?). Where did you get it? Oh, and this might be a dumb question, but would the farmers be okay with, ah, well...how do I word this...eliminating the fox? We've had possums in our backyard before and Tyson would shoot them but firing a gun isn't allowed in city limits. I would hate to kill a beautiful fox, though. I couldn't do it. Have they tried any sort of fox trap?

    1. thank you friend! it's actually a headband from anthropologie! i like it because it doesn't slip out of my hair. haha. aaaaaand the farmers are pursuing ways to eliminate the fox. they took a few shots at it, but aren't sure if they got him. after they shot at him, he hasn't come back, but they never found his body! crazy.
