you were born around 3am, but we didn't make it to our new room until about 6am. your daddy and i were just going to sleep as the sun was coming up. we took a MUCH needed two-hour nap before being woken up again by nurses coming and going.
after that, the day was filled with visitors! both of the hospital & friend variety. grandma betty and pops came to see you first, and they brought us lunch! mmm. they stayed for several hours and held you and talked to us. we were so excited they were there!
after they left, we gave you your first diaper change and it was epic! your daddy took off your diaper, but we didn't put another one below you right away. BIG MISTAKE! just as we wiped your bottom, you continued to poop! haha! your daddy fondly refers to this moment as 'the poop fountain.' i'm sure you will hate hearing about that as you get older. haha.
of course, after that, we figured you needed a bath. so we used a little sponge and bathed you with that and combed your long long hair. it was such a wonderful moment for me and your daddy. we were so proud to see you and bathe you, to hold you and marvel at your tiny body. it would be a moment we would be so thankful for in the coming week.
after that, Brooklyn came to visit you, then Matt&Lanna, then Jacob&Amber. everyone loved you right away and wanted to hold you. you were such a handsome little baby! you really hated being passed around, but once you were in the arms of someone, you settled down and were content.
all the visitors had to leave at 8pm, so after that we enjoyed some quiet time with you. they'd be our last normal moments for a little while.

It's so much fun introducing your baby to his new family. :) I love that you are writing a chronicle of his whole beginning. I am sure one day it will be such a blessing for him to read how God made him, healed him, and sustained him so faithfully.
ReplyDeletehe is so adorable! love that picture of him. and motherhood looks good on you, by the way ;)
