three months!

you are getting more and more opinionated-- you let us know when you don't like something! you have several different "cries" that let us know when you are hungry, sleepy, or mad. you love to be read to/sung to. at bedtime you just smile and smile when we read you stories. you love momma's voice and look for her when you hear it. you are starting to become more "grabby," and momma has to watch out for her hair! your awake time is much more active now-- we put you on the changing table or on your play mat and you kickickick! you coo at us now and we coo back to you. you are holding your head up almost entirely on your own, though it's still a bit wobbly. you have listened to two books of mary oliver poems, a collection of children's poems, "just so stories" by rudyard kipling, and the jesus storybook bible. you are such a good baby-- sometimes your momma feels guilty that you are so good--but she'll take it!

solomon started having night terrors -- or at least that's what the doctor thinks they are-- right around two months. they are sporadic at best. he normally will have at least one in a 24 hour period, if not more. but as i type this, he's not had any in 36 hours! we are hopeful that it was just a phase. they are so scary-- he will open his eyes wide, arch his back, and wave his arms around with a piercing cry.

he finally got circumcised! that was super hard for me. i went back and forth on it all the way to the hospital. and in the hospital room, up until they took solomon away. he had a really rough 24 hours after that, and there were many tears on both sides. but he healed up so quickly, and now is happy as can be!

we took solomon to jackson for the first time to visit great & grandparents. it was a whirlwind of showers, church, visiting, being passed around, and lots of driving! he was a champ! i think C and i had a harder time adjusting to the busy schedule than solomon did. we are gradually learning how to take trips with him-- hopefully we will get the hang of it before the long christmas visit!

  1. I had very mixed feelings on circumcision, too, but we ended up getting both our boys circumcised. It's nice to know another "crunchy" mom that circumcised. :) I have actually gotten mean speeches about it from people in the past!

I'm so glad Solomon is an easy baby-- that is such a blessing!!!
