you've started holding up your head more while you are on your belly. you like to hold our hands while we feed you your bottle, just to make sure it doesn't go anywhere. you are 'talking' more and more to us. you rolled over for the first time! you have officially outgrown your infant bathtub, but momma has to keep bathing you in it since you can't quite sit up yet. you are starting to recognize words and love it when we repeat "ma-ma-ma-ma" and "da-da-da-da" over and over for you. you are getting better at sitting in your bumbo-- we've even coaxed a few smiles out of you in it! you've had your very first major meltdown after we skipped two naps and were late to feed you-- you cried for two hours! momma and daddy learned their lesson. it has just started getting cold out, and we are learning how to be out in the cold with you. momma likes to put your winter hat on you and you don't seem to mind. you do, however hate your mittens because they keep you from looking at your hands. you are purposefully hitting things on your play mat and will grab your plastic keys and wave them about. and you LOVE the 'baby in the mirror' -- when you see him you kick like crazy and smiles your biggest smiles.

solomon is finally coming off his seizure medication! yay! we had a pretty big doctor's visit yesterday and both his neonatalogist and neurologist agreed that he is doing very well. other than the usual nitpicks over his motor skill development (they say he seems to be just a little 'behind' and might benefit from PT-- but this isn't necessarily due to his brain bleed) he is recovering great. we are still uncertain as to whether or not to get a PT evaluation for him-- C was a late crawler/walker/talker so it seems like his delay might just be hereditary. C never got therapy and was fine... soooo..... it isn't really that we mind going to PT if he really needs it. but at this point we are kind of 'doctor-ed out' and aren't wanting to add more to the list if they aren't necessary. he will have a visual evaluation in two weeks-- and then his first shots appointment at his 6mo well baby appointment! i'm still super nervous about vaccinating him, but i'm trying to make decisions for him not out of fear either way. his next apointment for brain-related things is in january. and his next MRI will be in march. so we will have a bit of a break come december!

he is such a cutie! so glad to hear how well he is doing. i just read this great book about immunizations, On Immunity by Eula Biss: http://www.amazon.com/On-Immunity-Inoculation-Eula-Biss/dp/1555976891
ReplyDeleteI wavered a lot with immunizations--I don't understand a lot of science-stuff so all my information was from mom-gossip and a lot of it felt uncertain and fearful. So reading this really helped me feel like I was making a good, informed decision!
