six months!

weight: 15lbs 8oz
height: 27inches

oh sweet baby, we can't believe you are already six months old! you are a joy to be around and we cannot imagine how life was before you were here. you have started sitting up in your bumbo-- though you tire of it after about ten minutes and start crying. but! momma will take any improvement at this point! you have started trying solid foods-- carrots, applesauce, and butternut squash have been on the menu. you are still not sure what to think of any of them and will gag and roll them around on your tongue before you spit them out. we are still practicing saying "momma," "daddy," and "baby" as well as your name, and have come up with a catchy little song that you love to help you learn them. you have started full on cooing and babbling to your hands when you are playing-- we love to hear what you have to say! you got your first "haircut" a few days ago- your hair was so long it was getting in your eyes sometimes! so momma just trimmed a few locks. not a Real haircut, but just something to make do. you've learned to shake your rattle and put it in your mouth! you caught your first cold last week and have "suffered" through a stuffy nose and a bit of a cough- not to mention the introduction of the suction bulb...

this is your last month in our Glendale apartment-- and we are sad to leave. sad that you will never remember your room or your time here, but we know that leaving is what God has for us. momma is apprehensive about moving, but is trying to comfort herself with the thought that this move is only temporary. hopefully by the time you can remember, we will have a more permanent home.

your first christmas is fast approaching! we have gotten you two presents: a little wagon of alphabet blocks and the complete tales of winnie the pooh (original unabridged). we are excited to show you how to enjoy your new presents in the coming months.

momma is trying to learn how to breastfeed you. it has been rather a 'hail mary pass' for her. she wants to keep you on breastmilk through the end of march (to get you through your first winter), but is exhausted from pumping every three hours round the clock.  pumping will become even more difficult in the coming month with endless hours in the car, visits to grandparents, and moving on the horizon. you, however, hate breastfeeding and will have None of it. you cry and cry until you realize you won't get a bottle until after you breastfeed at least a little and you give in. it may amount to nothing, but momma's going to keep trying until we leave for christmas.
