36 weeks!

baby size: romaine lettuce!
this is a classic example of how black is slimming.
i look 10,000xs bigger in my 34 week photo!

weight gain:
9.4lbs from pre-pregnancy

stretch marks: one that's itchy and painful! no one told me! it bothers me regularly, even though i have been moisturizing a ton since november. and i just discovered a bunch of little ones that were hiding underneath my belly. ha!

foods i'm loving: super craving fresh veggies-- excited about the farmer's market starting back up this sunday! and ohmy i want icecream everyday. and i really like pizza.

foods i'm hating: mostly just the things we've been eating for a while now because they're cheap and easy- mostly foods involving rice and a sauce??

sleep: some better now that he's dropped! not as much rib pain unless i accidentally sleep on my right side (yessss) but waking up at least 2x a night to go to the bathroom. and MUCH TROUBLE turning over or sitting up.

symptoms: BIGNESS! and belly is super lumpy now since he has dropped. and i think i've had a few very mild contractions? i've also had a few dreams of having baby- one funny one where we had him and i forgot his little hat that i have! ah! (??)

what i miss:  i've missed being able to run this week- the Flying Pig Marathon was last weekend so it made me miss running. even walking takes too much effort. everything tires me out so much now! C and i try to walk a few times a week, and it's nice-- but i'm definitely worn out after only a mile!

what i'm looking forward to: seeing littleman's face! holding him. sleeping without him inside me. eating without him inside me....really anything that involves him being outside me i'm looking forward to!

frustrations:  not so many-- just getting excited! most people have been encouraging this week. no random comments or 'suggestions'.

emotions: feeling loved and supported by C, excited to meet baby, a little frazzled in only having 4 weeks (or less?) left to finish things.

:::

this week has been great! i'm feeling good, just big, and have to hold/support my belly when i change positions-- no sudden movements here!

C and i have been to two birth classes now- they are so fun! our instructor, jeanie is so funny and sweet. she is very pro-husbands (none of that talking down about husbands in the l&d room) and has so much good information and suggestions on how they can be a helpful part of the process. she draws funny pictures and is extremely positive without watering anything down. our last class was about different positions to help labor along- so that was fun! C and i are hoping to spend as much time at home laboring as is prudent- but honestly, i really wouldn't be disappointed or terrified if i gave birth at home or in a car...

our appointment today went well- i'm measuring normal and everything's looking good. i also am starting 2x a day shots tonight, so that's new and not so great, but it will be much better for me when i go into labor and don't have to worry about waiting 24 hours for my thinners to wear off. we wrote out our labor plan and now just have to get our doctor to sign off on it, so that's exciting! i'm not too worried- our doctor is pretty much a 'whatever you want' kind of doctor, and will only stress his opinion when it is critically necessary. otherwise he does whatever the patient feels is best.

we think we've narrowed our names down to TWO! hurrah! so we are planning on taking the two in with us to the hospital and seeing what he 'looks' like. i like one more and C likes the other more-- but both of us like both names at least kind of. so that's a plus! i just feel so relieved to finally have arrived at some sort of decision!

only 3.5 weeks to go!

  1. You look so cute! My stretch marks did itch terribly toward the end of my pregnancies-- I think it's one of those things you forget about because the itching goes away after your stomach deflates. :p I think you would be a very good Italian with your cravings for fresh vegetables, pizza, and ice cream (gelato)! ;)
